Church Vancouver - Do we need more Churches?
The Bridge is a new church in vancouver. From time to time over the last few years of starting this church people have asked, "Do we need more churches in Vancouver?" or "Why would you want to start a church?"
In short yes, there is a place for more churches in Vancouver. Actually when the city was first founded it was the idea of the original city planners to have a church, a school and a community centre in an 8 block area. This way families in Vancouver could walk to church, or school or the community centre. Vancouver has grown and expanded but the number of churches may have actually decreased. A church is not about a building or a program but about people finding a relationship with God and living in open and honesty community.

Why start a new church? Is there something wrong with all of the churches that are here now? No there is nothing wrong with all the churches in Vancouver now. Upon observing peoples past behaviour, it is clear that people like coming to a new church. Somehow a new church attracts more people than an older more established church. Also in Vancouver particularly there is a strong entrepreneurial spirit. People seem to like the idea of doing something new or starting something fresh.
Ultimately the reason for starting a new church is because God led some people to do it. There have been many over the years who have prayed and worked to start a new church in Kitsilano, but it is only recently that new churches in this area have started to experience some success. Throughout the bible we see God leading people to follow him and as a Christian this is our primary aim, to know love and follow God. Jerry Conner and others at the Bridge, chose to start this church for one primary reason, because God led us to do it.
