God moves in the Carruther's life
Update on Debbie Carrurthers
Rich is a Hero!
As many know, Debbie has been away for several weeks caring for her mother. Debbie was able to return home last Saturday night after many days of trying to work out her travel arrangements. Debbie suffers from altitude sickness which makes travel difficult plus she was physically totally exhausted.
Here is an excerpt of an email Rich sent this last Monday...
--------------------------------------
"Through all this God seemed to be bringing Debbie to a point of His intervention so she could fly again. So, yesterday morning [Feb. 9], she felt like she needed to just jump on a plane and get home. David found a flight from St. Louis, through Chicago and on to Seattle. Not giving herself any time to think too much and become more stressed, she booked the flight and within hours was on a plane. She arrived in Seattle last night at 7:30pm, a bit frazzled and very weary, but oh so glad to be home. We got back to Vancouver about midnight, and Debbie had a little bit of stress-related difficulties but was so glad to be back to her own home, and her own bed.
So thank you so much for praying us through this very challenging time. There have been so many wonderful interventions from God in answer to prayer. He is getting the glory and we are getting the help, and many expressions of gratitude are ascending to the throne. We know there are several more challenges ahead of us, so please continue to pray, but take a pause to also celebrate what He has just accomplished in us.
p.s. sorry I could not stay for connection sunday. Debbie was too exhausted to come today so I needed to pick up some food for her. Thanks again for your intercession for us. We count on your prayers!

After picking up Debbie at the airport in Seattle and making it home after midnight, Rich came last Sunday morning to take Debbie's place in the nursery, and then leave before lunch.
an excerpt of my reply to Rich...

I am really impressed that you would come in to take Debbie's place in the nursery yesterday morning, that says much about the character God has built in you. I know you had to be tired and had much on your mind, and to come to care for 'our' babies so their parents could worship speaks volumes about your love relationship and worship of God.
Last Sunday, I concluded our walk through Luke 10 and looked at the story of Martha & Mary. I was struck by Jesus words that "only one thing is needed". Jesus is "The Main Thing" (the title of my sermon). That to understand and do Luke 10:27 we have to look to Jesus to know how to do that, because we do not naturally know how to love sacrificially. Because Jesus was both God and man he can show us how to Love God completely as a man. Because Jesus was both God and man he can show us how to love others as God would. I think you illustrated that yesterday better than I could have preached it, thank you Rich.
