Women's Bible Study in Kitsilano
This week the women of the Bridge met up for our second monthly
installment. We watched the first of Beth Moore's "Believing God"
series, and followed this with cake, prayer and discussion. I'd never
heard Beth Moore speak before, and although initially the texan drawl
took some getting used to, I really appreciated the rare opportunity to
get high quality teaching from a dynamic, passionate lady with a strong
personality! She focused on the topic of the "Promised Land" and what
that old testament concept looks for us in our life today. She
emphasized that so often our theology lives separately from our
reality; we are mediocre in our faith, live in defeat and lack belief
that God can move mountains. Beth Moore encouraged us to live in our
destiny as children of God, understand that God has an inheritance for
us and that the number one hindrance to us receiving this is our
unbelief. "We see so little, because we believe so little". She
concluded by reminding us of 2 things that close the gap between our
theology and our reality - firstly, our faith, and secondly, stepping
up our level of sanctification. Lastly, she asked us to memorize 5
truths:
1. God is who he says he is
2. God can do what he says he can do
3. I am who God says I am
4. I can do all things through Christ
5. God's word is alive and active in me
If
anyone is looking for an opportunity to get high quality teaching
(albeit in a very southern accent), digest some important truths along
with some high calorie treats, I would encourage you to come along next
time - first Wednesday evening in April.
