giving @ the bridge

Look around you at the bridge ~What do you see?

after church

People talking  and enjoying a cup of coffee; The Bridge worship band  leading energetic worship music; a first time guest receiving his copy of a gift book or her first Bible; someone diligently listening to the message and taking notes; Children learning about the Bible in Kids Church.

Throughout the week, you will see trained leaders offering Meet-up groups.  A Ministry Suite downtown where busy people can jump on the wireless net to do some work, gather to watch a sporting event on TV or just find a few minutes of quite sancturary. You will see people counseling and encouraging others in how to grow in their spiritual life, groups of people gathering to pray.

Out in our community, you will see people gathering to serve others in helpful ministries of compassion and mercy.  People reaching out to express and share God's love through community events and other opportunities.

In our world, you will find people on university campus' ministering to students and faculty.  You will find people taking the gospel message to many different places around our world with people connected to The Bridge in Asia, Europe, Africa and Central America.

Each of these ministries is possible because The Bridge is a member supported church.  Without the tithes and offerings of our members and attenders it would be impossible to offer these ministries that help people to become fully developing followers of Jesus.

Imagine what would happen if...

100% of The Bridge’s regular attenders took the step to become a regular giver at The Bridge.  These are just a few things that would be possible…

  • Expansion of current ministries
  • Creation of new ministries
  • More lives radically changed
  • Deeper personal relationships with God
  • Greater impact on our city

What does the Bible say about giving?

The Bible says more about giving than Heaven, prayer or even faith!  reading Bible
Here is just a sample of what God says about giving...

1.  Faithful giving draws me closer to God

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”    Matthew 6:21

2.  Faithful giving is the key to a full life.

Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others.  By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.  1 Tim 6:18-19

3.  Faithful giving blesses me in return

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so that there will be food enough in my Temple; if you do, I will open up the windows of heaven for you and pour out a blessing so great you won't have room enough to take it in!

"Try it! Let me prove it to you!” Malachi 3:10

4.  Faithful giving makes me happy

...'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" Acts 20:35

5.  Faithful giving reminds me that everything belongs to God.

“But remember the Lord  your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth,”         Deuteronomy 8:18

Why should I give?

  • Giving helps me grow in my faith
  • Giving supports the ministries of The Bridge
  • Giving allows me to be part of God’s impact here in Vancouver and around the world

One of the greatest measures of spiritual maturity is how we handle the resources that God has given us.  Financial Stewardship, honoring God with our finances, is a form of discipleship that will help you to become a fully developing follower of Jesus.

How much should I give?

The Bible says that every believer should give a minimum of 10% of their income, or a tithe, to the local church.  Anything over 10% is called an offering and is a way to honor God through giving sacrificially

Is my gift tax-deductible?

All contributions are tax-deductible.  Giving envelopes should be completed in order for your gift to be properly recorded.  Giving statements are provided to help you keep track of your giving.

Is The Bridge financially accountable?

The Bridge follows normal accepted accounting principles and practices, files all the necessary reports to the appropriate government agencies and makes monthly financial statements available to it’s members and constituents.
