The priority of membership
Through our faith in Jesus, we are not only reconciled to God, we are also joined to Christ’s body, the church. Therefore, our commitment to the church is an important way in which we express our commitment to Jesus Christ. We are now “members one of another” (Romans 12:5) who are learning to live out our unity in Christ with a community of others who share our faith. We will only grow and mature in Christ as we learn to use our gifts to serve and build up one another (Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 12). Membership is the privilege we have of being a committed part of what Jesus is doing in and through our local church in this part of the world.
The process of membership
Step # 1: Read through the membership materials and understand the privileges and responsibilities we have as members of The Bridge. To get the membership materials, please contact us or email us at info at bridgechurch.ca or call the church office at 604-327-4330.
Step # 2: Be interviewed by the elders. The purpose of this interview is to hear a prospective member’s profession of faith, answer any questions he or she might have, and help them get connected to the life and ministries of the church.
Step # 3: Be voted into membership. Upon a recommendation for membership from the elders, each membership candidate is voted in by the existing members. This vote will be followed by the public welcome of the new members on the following Sunday.
