Gospel, Community & Mission.

From the beginning of Bridge Church we have been shaped by three Core Values: Gospel, Community & Mission.
Through all we say and do we seek to:
Proclaim the Gospel, Build Christ-Centred Community & Join Christ on Mission.

Joining together on Sundays with our whole congregation for communal worship, the public proclamation of the Gospel, administration of the Sacraments, and weekly commissioning for mission is one of two central expressions of living out these values.

The other is through Groups.

While Sunday mornings are God-glorifying and can accomplish a great deal in our discipleship to Jesus, Groups allow for the formation of meaningful relationships, deep conversations about faith, space to share life together, find tangible support, and can be incredible vehicles for missional living.

We envision everyone who calls Bridge Church their church- whether the seeker, those on the edge of Christian faith, or committed covenant-partners becoming part of a Group.

At Bridge we have four kinds of Groups

The first are Groups that are Home-based. This kind of Group has been foundational in the life of Bridge Church to date. A Home Group is a collection of individuals and families who gather together regularly to enjoy a meal, pray together, study the Bible, build relationships, and support one another. These groups typically meet from September to June. Home Groups that exceed 25 people may at times multiply into two groups, or become Villages. Home Groups keep a missional posture creating space for newcomers and those growing in the faith. Home Groups are facilitated by and aided by the Home Group Team.

The second kinds of Groups are Time-limited groups. A Time-limited group exists for a short period of time. Examples could be an 8 week Alpha course for seekers, a group of families going through a 5-week bible study going through James, a group of men going through The Journey Course or the book STEPS, a semester in Women’s ministry looking at Ephesians, four couples going through a pre-marital with a Pastor etc. When someone signs up for a Time-Limited group they are not committing large periods of time. They may move between Groups for support and discipleship.

The third kind of Groups are Interest-based groups. An Interest-based group is primarily focused on building relationships with those in and out of the church community. These are groups that form around a shared interest. Examples could be a men’s golfing group every second Friday in the summer, a healthy foods group, a running group or BMX group.

The final kind of Groups are Leadership-based groups. As Bridge grows in size there are more and more leadership teams needed to carry out our Mission. Leadership-based groups are communities of support and discipleship that form while carrying out ministry. Examples include worship leaders doing devotions and praying together before practice, women’s ministry leaders praying together once a week for support and encouragement, or the staff gathering for a time of mutual encouragement and refreshment.

God is Always on the Move

If our history as a church has taught us anything, God is always on the move. He is constantly shaping us, changing us and challenging us! Groups at Bridge Church will be much the same - impactful, ever-changing and dynamic.
As church leadership, we encourage you to get engaged in the life of the church both through Sunday participation and Group engagement. Consider leading a Group of some sort, or joining in the fun. Together we will continued to Proclaim the Gospel, Build Christ-centred Community and Join Jesus on Mission to the Glory of God!
